The Eeyou Istchee Sports & Recreation Association is grateful to Broomball Canada for bestowing on us a funding grant to support the growth of broomball in the Cree Nation. The initiative was to support the purchase of broomball nets with the goal being to have 2 sets of nets in each community. This will allow more players to enjoy the game either by dividing the ice in half to facilitate 2 mini games or practices, or to take a set of nets to the outdoor rink.

This year we received enough funding to support the purchase of four sets of nets, and with community buy-in of $1000, Waswanipi, Ouje-Bougoumou, Eastmain and Waskaganish obtained a new set of broomball nets each.

Congratulations to the four communities and a big shout out to Broomball Canada.
