Eeyou-Istchee-Baie-James Transportation Support Fund

The Eeyou-Istchee-Baie-James Transportation Support Fund financially supports organizations in Northern Quebec for the participation of young athletes in recreational and sports activities throughout Quebec.

The Eeyou-Istchee-Baie-James Transportation Support Fund supports Jamesian or Cree teams, clubs, and applicant organizations by reimbursing, under certain conditions, part of their travel expenses for their participation in recreational and sports activities outside the region. The fund aims to facilitate participation in sports and recreational activities throughout Quebec.

Introduced in 2022 by Loisir Sport Baie-James and the Eeyou Istchee Sport and Recreation Association, the program is made possible by financial assistance from the Government of Quebec to the Unité régionales de loisir et de sport du Québec (URLS), including $500,000 over 10 years to Loisir Sport Baie-James to manage jointly with Eeyou Istchee Sport and Recreation Association.
